Buttock and leg lift operations are not for the faint hearted. They are one of the most extensive cosmetic operations, and typically leave patients with a circumferential trunk scar. Despite this, patients find this operation appealing if they are candidates for it. Body lift results can be very dramatic, and the scar is typically hidden in the underwear region. Eligible patients are typically very happy with the improvement so they usually do not mind the (very minor) scar at all. Candidates for body lift operations have considered less extensive procedures, or tried other alternatives and are most of the time not able to achieve the results they are seeking. This operation typically has a long recovery period, because of the extent of the internal sewing.

Despite all of this, the results from the procedure are so profound, the minor scarring and the extensive recovery time are typically not enough to deter patients who want to see results following this procedure.

BODY LIFT PROCEDURE

Dr.Talebzadeh uses an informed-consent form in order to inform a patient of the procedure details of the circumferential body lift surgery, its risks, as well as any alternative treatments. Circumferential body lift is not a surgical treatment for overweight patients. If you are looking to achieve weight loss, the best option is almost always diet and exercise. In order to be a candidate for a body lift or Brazilian Butt lift in San Diego/Chula Vista, you must be at a stable, healthy weight.

There are a variety of different techniques used by Dr. Talebzadeh for circumferential body lift procedures. Circumferential body lift can be combined with other forms of body-contouring surgery including liposuction or performed at the same time with other elective surgeries.

RISKS

Every surgical procedure involves a certain amount of risk and it is important that the patient understand the risks involved with a circumferential body lift procedure. An individual’s choice to undergo a surgical procedure is based on the comparison of the risk to potential benefit. Although the majority of patients do not experience the following complications, a patient should discuss each of them with Dr. Talebzadeh to make sure the patient understands all possible consequences of a circumferential body lift. We want to be open and honest with you about all possible complications so that you can make a truly informed decision about what is, at the end of the day, a very drastic surgical option.

Bleeding-It is possible, though unusual, to experience a bleeding episode during or after surgery. Should post-operative bleeding occur, it might require emergency treatment to drain accumulated blood or may require a blood transfusion. Do not take any aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications for ten days before surgery, as this may increase the risk of bleeding.

Infection-Infection is unusual after this type of surgery. Should an infection occur, treatment including antibiotics or additional surgery may be necessary.

Change in skin sensation-Diminished (or loss of) skin sensation in the lower abdominal area may not totally resolve after circumferential body lift.

Skin contour irregularities-Contour irregularities and depressions may occur after circumferential body lift. Visible and palpable wrinkling of skin can also occur.

Skin scarring-Excessive scarring is uncommon. In rare cases however, abnormal scars may result. Scars may be unattractive and of different coloring than surrounding skin. Additional treatments including surgery may be necessary to treat abnormal scarring.

Asymmetry-Factors such as skin tone, fatty deposits, bony prominences, and muscle tone may contribute to normal asymmetry in body features.

Delayed healing-Wound disruption or delayed wound healing is possible. Some areas of the abdomen may not heal normally or may take a long time to heal, and may necessitate further surgery.

Allergic reactions– In rare cases, local allergies to tape, suture material, or topical preparations have been reported. Systemic reactions that are more serious may occur in response to drugs used during surgery and prescription medicines. Allergic reactions may require additional treatment.

Pain-Chronic pain may occur very infrequently from nerves becoming trapped in scar tissue after a circumferential body lift.

What is the recovery process?

During recovery, patients can expect some swelling, bruising, and sensitivity that should improve within the first few weeks.

One important factor to consider before opting for a Brazilian butt lift is during the beginning of your recovery you cannot sit or lie directly on your buttocks for a minimum of two weeks. This includes while sleeping.

After two weeks, your doctor may allow you to modify these positions using a pillow under your thighs or a doughnut seat cushion to help you avoid placing pressure on your buttocks. Typically, around 2-3 weeks during recovery, most patients can return to normal non-strenuous activities such as work but be sure to follow your doctor’s instructions.

What results can I expect from a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Your results can fluctuate throughout the recovery process. They may appear exaggerated immediately following the procedure but will settle after a few weeks with the final results expected around the 6-month mark. Overall, the results of a Brazilian butt lift are designed to last years provided that patients maintain a stable weight through proper diet and regular exercise.
