Best Breast Augmentation in La Jolla/San Diego/Chula Vista

Quite often, women desire larger and fuller breasts in order to enhance their curves and increase their sense of confidence and femininity. Also referred to as mammoplasty, breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that increases the volume and size of a woman’s breasts. It is performed on an outpatient basis and in some cases it can be combined with other procedures, such as a breast lift. At his San Diego/Chula Vista patient center, Dr. Talebzadeh has helped many women understand their breast enlargement options, and achieve the look they’ve always wanted.

More and more patients are turning to cosmetic surgery to correct features they are unhappy with and to enhance their overall appearance. Although each decision for surgery is uniquely personal, many women undergo breast augmentation for the following common reasons:

  • To increase the size of small breasts
  • To correct breast asymmetry
  • For reconstruction purposes after mastectomy
  • To address volume loss due to pregnancy
  • To improve breast size and shape after weight loss

For patients requesting breast augmentation, there are a variety of breast implant options. Typically, every breast implant is held together by a silicone shell filled with a sterile saltwater solution called saline or with silicone gel. Both styles can then be arranged to a desired shape including round and tear-dropped (anatomical).

Teardrop shaped breast implants tend to give a patient extra lower breast fullness, whereas, round implants more commonly produce a round curve in the upper region of the breasts.

While most potential patients believe that their breast augmentation results will look completely obvious, however breast implants can be sized to a natural proportion that reflects your body type. At the same time, the breasts can be enlarged to a more endowed look depending on the patient’s goals.

Dr. Talebzadeh will take your original measurements during a consultation and these will help guide you to find the appropriate size for breast implants. Factors that will be considered and measured are chest width, height, and body type.

What to Expect During Surgery

In general, breast augmentation requires around two hours to complete. Usually the patient is put under by general anesthesia so that they will be completely asleep during the operation. There are a several different incision options for breast augmentation surgery. Depending on the implant type and the degree of enlargement, Dr. Talebzadeh will determine the best place to make the required incisions to create pockets for the implants. The various incision locations include:

  • Near the breast crease
  • In the underarm
  • Around the areola

Once the incisions are made on the chosen location, pockets are created behind the breast tissue or beneath the pectoral muscle to hold the implants. After the pockets are created, the breast implants are positioned and the incisions are closed. This is done with non-removable sutures in the breast tissue and sutures on the skin, and then held together by surgical tape and bandages.

What is the recovery like from a breast augmentation?

Soreness, swelling, and bruising are common patient experiences following the procedure. Compression garments will be used to help minimize swelling and support your breast while they heal.

It is important that you take it easy until you have permission from your surgeon to increase your activity. Your surgeon will let you know when you can begin regular activities or return to work. It is important to follow those increases and avoid raising your blood pressure and pulse.

What results can I expect? How long will they last?

A breast augmentation yields immediate results following a procedure, but the results may not be visible until the swelling subsides, and your body heals fully. Scarring is possible and though they should fade significantly, scars do not always disappear.

It is important to note that while results are long-lasting, implants are not guaranteed to last forever. Over time, your breast size and shape can change due to aging, weight fluctuations, hormonal factors, and gravity. It is common for patients to undergo breast lifts in the future or have an implant exchange to restore a more youthful contour after some time.
